Run To Win ~ Scrap Around The World & Once Upon A Sketch & Scrapbooking In Greece

Hi everyone! I'm in jolly good mood to share my newest layout today and this is my submission for Scrap Around The World and my first take for Once Upon A Sketch and Scrapbooking In Greece
This page is made for my eldest daughter's album as a remembrance of her tough times in sports activities during her primary school years. Nothing comes easy for my children so to speak {because I always teach them hard life}. When I tell them money doesn't grow on trees, they understand. For some two years my eldest child 'Alyaa used very cheap canvas non branded shoes for sports training and the same one used for sports events where she represented her school for regional.
She used to tell me that her sports teacher loaned her his spike shoes for major sports events {Oh! That I didn't know until she told me}. And that she hoped some day she could have one herself. I assured her that not all champions were lucky enough to have great sports gear but they won nevertheless because they were in it to win it. I simply told her, "...run as fast as you can..." and continued with, "...give me medals!" {big grin}.
Prior to leaving for boarding school last February, we ended up at Al-Ikhsan sports shop hunting for her dream spike shoes. I knew she needed a pair because I know she will not stop running! She wanted Adidas but no size. Nike her favorite of all didn't fit her either. Eventually we found one pair that is designed for her feet! It's Line7 a brand from France and 7 is consider to be lucky number for any sports person according to what I googled about Line7. For me 9 is always my lucky number, lol. She loved her new spike shoes although orange is not...I repeat...not our favorite color {chuckle}. But however I coaxed her by saying that everybody will recognize her right away when she's on the field because of that striking color! She smiled and I was pleased with the best buy {half price off, phew}
I snapped her orange shoes on registration day at boarding school last February for scrapbook purpose...only on this last day of February I scrap it {exactly}!
This is absolutely an interesting mood board from Scrap Around The World. I have chosen the left upper block in the board. The orange really suits the orange sports shoes and I'm also attracted to pink, green and gold. Thus I have used these colors on my page as well as my liking for the sentiment underneath with sprinkles of black over shades of pink. I know the chevrons are like a chart of my daughter's ups and downs in sports yet the gold is what she always aim for; hence the WIN alpha glitter sticker in gold!
I love sentiment/quotes and often used them for cardmaking but where scrapbook is concern, I like to hand write my journal as viewed in the up close photos below.
My layout is based on this sketch from Once Upon A Sketch that I take the challenge as well because I love journaling.
Some close ups:
I made a simple quick masking once I saw the circle label stickers sitting right before my eyes! Then I spray mists over them before I peel them off followed by bubble wrap stamping.
Photo below: Urgh, at this point during photo shoot only I realized that I have placed the designed paper upside down while applying gesso. Well, that's art {smile} and not a mistake, hihi.
Supplies: Tim Holtz designed paper & distress marker, watercolor, watercolor pencils, gesso, modelling paste, VersaFine ink pad, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist, alpha glitter stickers, stencil, bubble wrap, baubles, pearls and gel pen

I appreciate your visit today and thank you for leaving comments, I love reading them. I leave you with a picture of my excitement in applying gesso but I squish too hard; that's why!
And 'Alyaa with her old sports shoes, worn out and thrashed away in the end.
Have a nice weekend. Take care and best wishes,

Hugs and smiles,

Give the ones you love...

Hello from the dry spell land; the heat wave engulfing my country since January has triggered several bush fires nearby my place. Every time I drive my son to school, we spot smoke and minutes later we hear sirens, keeping emergency services personnel busy around the clock. Bush fire sparked by the hot spell are on the rise, thus ensuring me to investigate my dry lawn safe from time to time. The maximum heat didn't stop me from finishing a card just now.
{Okay, I admit taking all day long from start to end...just can't stand the heat!}.
Supplies: Kaisercrafts (acrylic stamp/brown ink pad), Martha Stewart boarder heart punch, sentiment from Ginger's House, Memory & VersaFine ink pad, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist.
I love layering and lots of layers and stitching as well. I made the spiral paper rose but I think this time the height is too high, erm, blame it on the heat, lol.

Here's the challenges I would like to join:
1. Crafts 4 Eternity : Recipe #163 Sketch
2. Wags 'n Whiskers : Bingo (I choose pearls, heart and ribbon)

3. ABC Challenge : F is for Flowers
4. Crafting Muskeeteers : Butterflies
5. Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper : Anything Goes
6. Feeling Crafty : Ch#25 Dies and/or Punches
7. Just B Creative Crazy : Linky Party Anything Goes
8. Kreativeinkauf : Spring Flowers
9. Sparkles Monthly : Ch#53 Ribbon/Lace, Hearts and Pearls
10. Treasured Times Rubber Stamps : Anything Goes with Layering

Once again thank you for dropping by. Truly appreciate.

Life...Love...And DS4J Mid-Challenge Reminder

Hi everyone! We are almost right here in the middle of February, time sure flies when we are busy with our lives. No matter what just be sure everything goes smoothly and even if it doesn't, there's always a way to make it happen and the keyword is patient...don't you think?

We at DigiStamps4Joy is currently running a fortnight challenge and the finishing line is 18 February. Our talented designer Karin is hosting her challenge this time with Heart theme. That doesn't sound too difficult does it? Here's what I came out with, a stepper card with Forest image which you can get here.
Supplies: DS4J digi image, Copic Sketch, Kaisercraft (pp/brown ink), Tim Holtz distress marker, Prima bloom, Carla Craft punch, Martha Stewart border punch, printed butterfly from Webster's, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist, sentiment from Ginger's House
I am in the process of using up all my stash and you can spot a strip of brown patterned paper (Kaisercraft) that is a left over from 12x12 (oh yes I save even tiny pieces =) as well as the punched flowers+leaves+swirls from scrap of cardstocks. And the main Prima bloom has been in my stash for some five years I think.
The sentiment is so true. No matter where I go, my home is always the best place to be and even though the work space end  up messy after each crafting, home is still comfy!
As always I am trying my luck in these challenges:

1. City Crafter : Love Bug (word Love in the project)
2. Clear it Out : Theme (Valentine's/Love) Stash (Flowers)
3. Papertake Weekly : With A Heart

Precious Moments ~ Scrap Africa

Hello everyone! I am happy to share with you my layout today and this is my first submission for Scrap Africa. I have always been meaning to partake in this challenge blog for so many times but I never get close enough; well not until yesterday when I read a post in blogger dashboard about Scrap Africa that tempted me to have a see myself. The sketch by Denise van Deventer is what attracted me to give it a go eventually {thanks Denise, your sketch is so lovely}.

And here is my layout of my dear beloved Mother in her younger days. She was 28 years old, married with six children (two of them met the creator when they were very young yet Mom handled it pretty well). I love this photograph of Mom. It was very common to take this kind of photograph at the shop in those days. Mom still keeps the dress she wears which I have worn several times. I know my Mother will be very happy when I present this layout to her some day soon.

Supplies: patterned papers (Imaginations, Graphic 45), Kaisercraft ink pad/rub on, Tim Holtz distress ink, Martha Stewart border punch, gesso, modeling paste and others from my stash

Thank you so much for dropping by to see my layout today. Truly appreciate your visit and time spent.

Serenity..Courage..Wisdom.. and DS4J New Release

Hi everyone! It's that time again for new releases at DigiStamps4Joy. Margy has drawn lovely images this week...isn't the swan a beauty? Do visit DS4J blog and take a look at the design team's work for inspirations. For my creation, I have used Reed Swan; I love swan! There's also mother swan and her babes in the shop you sure don't want to miss out.

Supplies: DS4J digi image, Copic Sketch, Tim Holtz distress marker, sentiment from Ginger's House, Kaisercraft blooms/ink pad, Carla Craft punch, Tiffany bloom, gesso, watercolor, Tattered Angel glimmer mist and others from my stash

 An inside scoop...
...originally intended to make just a simple but lots of layers card...eventually end up with yummy texture corrugated window card. How did that happen? My little girl was playing with cardboard the past couple of days. She cut a little piece into a tablet size and wrote down digital numbers on it. The next electronic device designer I guess, lol. The next day I was cleaning the house and gathered the bits and bobs to thrash away and that's when I thought it's a waste to throw. I peel off the surface and well, that's how it happens...always for a {{{very good}}} reason!

I hope you get some inspirations from my design. As always, I'm trying my luck in these challenges:

1. Allsorts : Colors beginning with B (mine is Blue and Brown)
2. The Kraftyhands : Spring Flowers
3.  Suzy Bee's Bloomin' : Ch#15 Anything Goes
4. Hiding in My Craft Room : HIMCR #136 - Super Scraps Saturday
5. Sister Act : Anything Goes
6. Challenges 4 Everybody : Ch#38 Anything Goes
7. Crafting By Designs : Anything Goes
8. Crafty Girls : Ch#11 Anything Goes
9. Delightful : Anything Goes
10. Jo's Scrap Shack : Anything Goes

This is me Asmah signing off for today. See you again real soon.

Hugs and smiles,
