Memories {Scrap Around The World, Sketchabilities & Mixed Media World}

Hi everyone! I have a layout to share today and there was a little glitch during the process. More on that later. So, this is my beach scene layout for my girls. As I glue down this and that, I was thinking which girl will have it in her album when they are in their 30's. Should I write a will or let them decide {hehe}
Supplies used: Kaisercraft patterned paper, watercolors, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist, Versafine black ink pad, Micia blue ink pad, Alpha gesso & modeling paste, Martha Stewart border punch, Sizzix big shot, Heartfelt botanical wings die, masking tape, bubble wrap, white string, brown jute, alphabet stamps, black gel pen, homemade elements and flower cluster from my stash.

 I am submitting this layout into Scrap Around The World and as usual the mood board attracts me so much. It's obvious that I'm attracted to the colors. I love working with earth colors the best.
 Karan Gerbers' sketch at Sketchabilities is always my cup of coffee. Love the banner and layers and splatter of paints. Karan's sketch always puts a smile on my face :)
I also entered this page at Mixed Media World in her first mixed media challenge {congratulations Ingrid Kristina V}. I totally admire Ingrid's stunning textures, inspiring and impressive projects from the day I came to know her through my participation at Mixed Media Place last September. If you are big fan of mixed media, don't miss out on this fantastic Mixed Media World!

Some close-up photos:
 I dig out my stash to make up the flower cluster. Nothing new except the flowers burlap are cut with big shot. The blue petals and brown leaves are from someone's wedding door gift  several years ago. I like to keep wedding keepsake and many of the flowers are good for recycling.
 If you look closely at the scrunch paper strips underneath the black netting, they are actually masking tape laid across the page to create texture.
 It wasn't my intention to color up the sky in the photo. Have a see at this photo below and you will understand why:
I was overly excited when spritzing glimmer mist over the page but didn't realize the photo was sitting next to it. Oh man!!! My option was to reprint the photo but {{{{{downright lazy}}}}} or second option is alter it. I chose the latter. Pretty happy accident eh!
That's all for now. Until I see you again with my next creation, thank you for dropping by and have a good day with great memories to cherish.

Hugs and smiles,

Live To Inspire {Through The Craft Room Door Challenge March 31 - April 13}

{My DT work for TTCRD}

Hello everyone! Today I'm showing my new layout made for Through The Craft Room Door. We have a new challenge this fortnight with similar theme Anything Goes as always. My fellow design teammates have made amazing creations to give way to your mojo. Come visit us for inspirations and play along. You may be the winner this challenge!

This is my layout of tecoma tree or scientifically known as tabebuia rosea that blossom earlier this month. It was on March 13 when I took some pictures of the tree while waiting for my eldest daughter to bring down her stuff from the hostel room for homecoming school break. I had planned to make a layout so this is it:
 We are sponsored by Decosse's Dynamite Doodles this time.
Lisa will kindly give you your prize if you are the chosen winner! I just love the flower digi images and did lots of quick easy fuzzy cut to attach them to the center of two layered flowers from dies. You can read more of the listed supplies in the next issue of TTCRD magazine out in June.
 My inspiration to make this layout comes from Berry71bleu flowers galore challenge. I love flowers and love making them from cardstocks or drawing papers as much as planting them in my garden :)
 I also play along at Let's Capture Our Memories. I'm really a sketch person {smile}. Thanks Shirley Mascarina for your beautiful sketch.
 When I saw this fab challenge at ARTastic Challenge Blog, I just can't resist it! The criteria is to use a quote or saying. I love quotes and wise words to use on my project. If they don't come from famous people, they come from my own heart written down on my layouts. This one I used is by Hans Christian Andersen who is one of my favorite authors while growing up.
A few more up close photos:
 I am glad you stop by today. Thank you for your visit and I shall do my best to return the favor. Until then, take care and live to inspire!

Forever Always

Hi everyone! Hoping life is treating you well. Just a few days more left to bid March farewell; time flies and this has been a productive month for me and so much looking forward to April and see what challenges lie ahead. Today I come out with a layout as a gift for my husband. We celebrate his birthday on this day; just a simple meal over dinner.

I have no idea what to get him so thought of making something he would be impressed of, lol. Even so, it took me two days to finish because as much as finding a man a present is difficult the same goes with making a masculine layout. I'm happy with the way this turns out eventually.
 Supplies: Kaisercraft patterned paper+stencil+stamp+rub-on, Martha Stewart border punch, watercolor paints, Alpha gesso & acrylic modeling paste, Prima flower, Versafine black ink pad, black gel pen, drywall tape, homemade heart element, song lyric Nothing At All by Ronan Keating (typed+printed)

As mentioned earlier, I wanted to partake in some challenges. Firstly, the March Moodboard Challenge at Sassy Scrapper caught my eyes early this month. I love the combination colors that suits my taste very much.
I also play along at The Scrapbook Store for the first time. Have been meaning to do so for so long, this time I don't want to miss it and I made it {{{happiness}}}
Lastly is my take on the typography challenge at Mixed Media Place which is my favorite place to exercise my artwork. Art has always been my number one passion since kindergarten. I'm always happy and stress free when I get to play with watercolors and paints.
I thought of putting up this youtube video of one of my favorite songs while you take a look at the close-up photos below.
This song means a lot to me. Well don't ask me why {chuckle}. So here are some up-close photos:
If you think that's a piece of long thread tucked in, no it's not. It's a drywall tape I pull out as long as I like.
 My sister called me up while I was splattering the watercolors above. She always call when I'm up to something!
 I never miss my husband's birthday {sadly sometimes he forgets mine, wargggh}
 Again some pieces of drywall tape. I actually used white threads but threw it away. Too soft and I didn't like it. Drywall tape looks better and macho {teeheehee}.
Can't help falling in love with texture.
 You might wonder why I placed the treble clef? Because music brought us together in 1993. Amir was the Drum Major or Band Master in the varsity brass band and I was a newcomer who played euphonium. We only spent one semester together in the brass band because he graduated soon after leaving me behind to focus on my studies and that lead us to six years long distance relationship until we tied the knot. I believe God has set our destiny for one another through music!
My love note for my man wasn't smoothly written on a textured surface. My handwriting looks funny, lol. That "With love" is a rub on though.

I hope you have enjoyed my post for today. Thank you for dropping by and reading my story this time. Until I see you again soon. Have a good day and take care.

Hugs and smiles,

Joys Of Life {TTCRD Challenge March 17-23}

{My DT work for TTCRD}

Hi everyone! It's that time again, a new challenge at Through The Craft Room Door and as always the theme this fortnight is Anything Goes. Winner of this challenge will win, not only the sponsor prize, but a GT slot for a later date. Plus their winning card/project and their Guest DT card/project will be published in the next edition of TTCRD magazine.

Check out TTCRD blog to view some ideas and inspirations by my fellow design team.
I did a layout of my little one playing near the fountain after a wedding.
Supplies: Bird Bath {digital image} by Anne Fenton, Kaisercraft {patterned papers, stamps and rub on title}, Memory Keepers leaves stamp, Marta Stewart punch, Carla Craft punch, Prima flower lace, pearls, watercolors, Copic markers and gesso.

As usual I needed a sketch to make my page and used a great sketch by Karan Gerber and play along at Sketchabilities:
I am also playing along at Time Out Challenges based on their photo inspiration. I love the red frame because it's my favorite color and the branches look lovely too so it gave me the idea to create flower scene.
Some close-ups:
 I used the bird bath digital image by Anne Fenton and colored with Copic. Thank you Anne for sponsoring us this time. You can get to see more of Anne's beautiful drawings here.
 The flowers are punched and adorn with cut out pretty flowers from Prima flower lace.
Played with paints and did bits of doodle.
Thank you for dropping by again and I shall do my  best to return the favor!
Until then, see you again with my next project and do submit your paper projects to TTCRD for a chance to get published in the next magazine. Nothing is impossible!
~Have a good day~

Standing In The Eyes Of The World {Guest Designer for Scrap Africa}

Hi everyone! Today the sun is shining brightly down on me and that makes me happy  because on this day I am sharing my newest layout with you all. Thank you for dropping by once again {{{hugs to all}}}. I was delighted when Denise van Deventer asked me to guest design for Scrap Africa once again soon after my Top Hat win in the previous challenges {{{thank you my friend}}}

My daughter number two had been wanting me to scrap her this time ever since the day somewhere in January she spent counting the number of layouts I have made over the years. Her little sister's pages outnumber the rest and she said, "Not fair!" LOL!! So I set myself to the entire day looking for her best shot in my external hard disk. They all some look good showing off her dimples and in many shots she always looks funny and playful. She's a jovial person; that's why! Finally I found some that she likes even though one has to zoom in to look at her in this photograph (smile).

Here's the layout:
Supplies: Kaisercraft patterned paper, Versafine black ink pad, Martha Stewart border punch, Carla Craft punch, Alpha acrylic gesso and modeling paste, alphabet rubber stamp, drywall tape, grey pearls, mask, watercolors, black gel pen, bubble wrap for stamping & kitchen rubber lay mat for stamping (I just love these anything goes to let loose =)

The photograph just suits the colors in the mood board that was given to me weeks ahead to work on for Scrap Africa Mood Board Challenge #47. Okay, I have to admit I am not a big fan of just yellow but I love the mixture of softness in these colors below with yellow as the focal point. The Suria KLCC building underneath the Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower matches the shades of cream in the mood board. I made sure the blue sky is alright too after taking a zoom close-up of the model's eyes. The choice of patterned papers match the stairs and the greyish background in the mood board. All in all, yes I was happy with the way my layout turns out and I was very glad Denise loves it!
I needed a sketch to work it out as always so I've chosen a beautiful sketch from C'est Magnifique. I love messy sketch because I can splatter paints and just whatever I have beyond reach. It's always anything goes when I scrap a mixed media page.
Here are some close-up photos:
The blooms and leaves are punched and assemble altogether to create clusters.
I can't do without splatter of paints, one way to release stress or anger (smile).
The title Standing In The Eyes Of The World is taken from one of the theme songs of the 16th Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur (1998) and sung by Malaysian top singer Ella. Since the games ended, the song has become one of the patriotic songs in schools and public events for motivation purpose. This song always reminded my participation in the 16th Commonwealth Games while I was attached to the National TV (RTM) as the official host broadcaster. My job as Producer was to assist the cricket tournaments and ensure the foreign television newscasters get the daily reports before and after each game. I vividly remember the event on my birthday (September 9) where I received well wishes from many people on the field just because my ex-colleague was nosey, hehe.

The song has a lot of memories for me and sometimes when I watch this you tube video, I never forget the day we did live telecast of the official song in front of our ex-Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad prior to the games as well as watching the opening ceremony.
It was awesome.
Anis loves the song so much that I decided to use it's title on her layout and wrote a journal for her and let her know that I only want her to do her very best without giving her much pressure and if she can reach the top of the pinnacle in her undertakings, that is just so rewarding for me as a mother.

{{{thought of sharing the lyrics with you}}}
Standing In The Eyes Of The World (English Version)
 Looking back all the years, all the sacrifice
If you want to be the best you've got to pay the price
You learn it from the very start just how hard you must try
'Coz if you don't spread your wings then you can't fly
Look at where you are today
Did you ever think that you would come all this way?
(And) now you're
"Standing In The Eyes Of The World"
Only moments away from what can be
There's a passion in the hearts of a few
Ever waiting inside to be set free
When the time comes and your spirit
Takes flight and you reach into
Your soul and live it with all of your might
And there's no surprise that you're
(And everyone tries when you're)
"Standing In The Eyes Of The World"
Many have hopes and dreams that will not come true
And all of them left behind now they will live in you
Everyone feels the same once a day in the sun
But sometimes there is only room for one
Never ever been so near now the chance is finally here

 Until the morning after, see you with my next layout.
Have a good day.

Hugs and smiles,
